Ugh skin. I have battled with my skin before I became a teenager. When I was younger, I really didn't take care of myself. I drank pop and ate mac and cheese and ramen noodles about every day. I know, I was naughty but hey, we all can't be good! I've changed since then, now it's hard for me to even eat that stuff. I've completely cut out drinking pop and replaced it with water. Which I've become addicted to, can't get enough of it! This hub will teach you how to take care of your skin and keep it looking fabulous!

I cannot emphasize enough how important drinking water is. Keep hydrated! It will detox your body and help keep your skin clear. You also need to eat healthier too. If you are not eating healthy foods, your body reflects this. If you are not eating the right foods, experts say that this can lead to other problems as well, such as eczema.

  • Don't forget to apply sunscreen everyday! Protect yourself from harmful rays, even if it's overcast outside. Buy a sunscreen that protects you from UVB and UVA. Buy at least an SPF 15, it will block out at least 93% of rays. Buying a SPF 30 will block out 97% of rays.
  • Don't smoke! Smoking does decrease blood flow, it depletes nutrients and oxygen from your skin. Smoking adds ten to twenty years of age to your natural age. Ew.
  • Cleansing! Washing your face at least twice a day with warm water. I have tried numerous facial cleansing products. The one I use and love is Jason Tea Tree Oil Satin Soap. They have other kinds of satin soaps as well, I just love the Tea Tree Oil. It works the best for my T zone. A few times a week I will use my favorite toner. I love the Burts Bees Garden Tomato Facial Toner. It's not harsh at all and is refreshing. Don't forget to exfoliate one to two times a week. Always moisturize! I love using Yes To Carrots lotion. It's light and smooth on the skin.
  • Eat your antioxidents! Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, plums and acai berries are very rich in antioxidents. These are the most plentiful foods for skin. So, eat your berries!!
  • Get your intake of vitamin A. It helps neutralize harmful elements in our skin and prevent wrinkles. It is better to get your vitamin A from food instead of taking pills. High levels of vitamin A above the recommended daily allowance is toxic. Some foods that are high in vitamin A : sweet potatoes, carrots and apricots, spinach, mango, kale, broccoli and skim milk. Beware of taking too much vitamin A because it can turn your skin yellow. This can cause babies to turn yellowish as well if they are eating too much of sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.
  • If you have dry patches on your face I like to use honey and let it set on my skin for five to ten minutes. You have to be careful because it will get warm and drip off so you have to watch it! Or do it in the bath so it's not so messy. I also like use oatmeal for dry skin. You can use a cut off piece of pantyhose and fill it and soak it to put on your face. Or mix it up with honey and warm milk made into a paste and place on your face, let set for a few minutes and wash off with warm water.
  • Don't touch your face or lean against objects! This leads to acne from the dirt and bacteria on your hands or surface. Wash your hands often!
